Cold Solutions Kenya’s cold storage facility in Tatu City is a 13,600 square-metre Grade ‘A’ complex on six acres, one of the largest of its kind in the country, catering to fresh fruit and vegetables, pharmaceuticals and vaccines, meat, poultry, and frozen foods. The facility was flexibly designed to accommodate numerous temperature ranges, from +26°C to -40°C, across multiple product categories. Tatu City is a 5,000-acre mixed-use development with homes, schools, offices, a shopping district, and a manufacturing area serving more than 150,000 residents, and forms Kenya’s first operational Special Economic Zone.
CED provided civil and structural engineering services for the project. The result is a Grade ‘A’ temperature-controlled facility engineered to support demanding cold-chain storage requirements across a wide range of product categories.
